Link Between Spiritual Growth and Depression

There's only one reason why an enlightened/awaken (or any) person gets depressed. And the cause is thinking about something (times and times again) that your Higher Self/Soul does not agree with. Your thought/idea/belief is out of alignment with divine truth - and you're feeling it (experiencing depression). Your point of view is limiting and the disharmony you're feeling is oppressing.

Blocking away our negative thoughts, pushing them away, or ignoring them - does not work. It only deepens the feeling of hopelessness/depression.

To turn things around - you need to decide that you're done feeling like s__t. Set the intention. It's time for you to realize that prolonged feeling-bad (being depressed) actually makes you addicted to certain chemicals and hormones that occur inside of our physical body in that particular emotional state. In short, you become addicted to depression. An addiction is a habit that can be stopped.

The first step in stopping addiction-to-depression is: wanting to recognize thoughts that make you feel bad. Start paying attention to little things (automatic thoughts) that you tend to ignore - or push them away as soon as they appear.

Focus on the relief you feel just by setting an intention to stop this addiction.

Love yourself through the process.

Do not blame yourself for thinking in a certain way. When we first had a thought, it most likely benefited us. It worked in a certain situation. But, since life is a never-ending motion/expansion/growth, once beneficial thoughts/ideas/habits - no longer serve us as we progress to a higher level of consciousness. It's time to let them go - and replace them with feel-good thoughts, in harmony with your heart.
